Dr. Inskip's visit program was entitled" Building Foundations for Conservation Action: Assesing Human-Tiger Conflict Research and Management Needs in the Terai, Nepal". Dr. Inskip's visit goals included collecting and analyzing baseline HTC data, identifying HTC reduction activities and their effectiveness, identifying research and management needs, and develop relationships with local communities, NGOs and DNPWC in Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park. 

Dr. Alexandra Zimmermann

Dr. Zimmermann visited with Dr. Inskip for the same program entitled" Building Foundations for Conservation Action: Assesing Human-Tiger Conflict Research and Management Needs in the Terai, Nepal". Dr. Zimmerman's visit goals were thus same as that of Dr. Inskip, that is to collect and analyze baseline HTC data, identify HTC reduction activities and their effectiveness, identify research and management needs, and develop relationships in the same study area and National Parks as Dr. Inskip's.

Ms. Sullivan visited the institution under the Coupled Natural Human Project. The major purpose of her visit was to interview community forest committee members, household members in CFs, forest district and national park officials, and local NGOs to gain better understanding of their governance principles and norms.

Ms. Jennifer Learned

The major goal of Ms. Learned's visit to the institute was to develop the soil analysis capabilities at ISER-N. As a part of Coupled Natural Human Project, Ms. Learned, during her stay, trained the ISER-N ecology team for soil sampling protocols and laboratory analysis protocols and techniques.


Jennifer Broker Kelley

Ms. Kelley visited the institution as trainer to give training to ISER-N staff on Methods of Cognitive Interview for WHO-Model Disability Survey. Not only the training, Ms. Kelley closely worked with ISER-N to translate the questionnaire, made objective of each question clear to the staff and also paid visits to some households with the ISER-N staff for the observation and interviews.


Kristen Cibelli

Ms. Cibelli visited the organization with Ms. Jennifer B. Kelley with the same objective to train the ISER-N staff on the Cognitive Interview Techniques for the WHO-Model Disability Survey. Ms. Cibelli assisted Ms. Kelley and joined the ISER-N staff also in questionnaire translation and field surveys for observation and conducting interviews.


Dr. Rebecca L. Thornton

Ms. Thornton paid visit to the organization for conducting an exploratory survey regarding pregnancy knowledge among the women in Chitwan Valley. She had the objective of gaining knowledge of how aware the women in Chitwan were of the pregnancy stage and how early do they know of their pregnancy. She therefore conducted interviews while in Chitwan to achieve the study goals.

Dr. Sean T Murphy

Dr. Murphy's visit aimed to explore strategies for interventions to control Mikania micrantha, as a part of Coupled Natural Human Project (2012-2017). Dr. Murphy with the team at ISER-N visited some field sites of CNH and conducted informal interviews with local stakeholders to identify the potential and effective intervention measures to control the invasives.

Nell Compernolle

Date: November 18-26, 2014.
Ms. Compernolle visited the institution for her project “Remittances from an Absent Husband: the Effects of International Labor Migration to the Persian Gulf on Family Dynamics and Consumption in Chitwan, Nepal.” With help of ISER-N, Ms. Compernolle conducted pilot surveys in almost 600 households to the wives of absent husband in Chitwan. To achieve the goal, she also conducted in-depth interviews to subsample of the husbands migrated.
