Population and Environmental Dynamics
Understanding the Inter-relationship between Population and the Environment
The programs on population and environmental dynamics are motivated by the need to better understand the interactions and inter-relationships between human actions and the natural environment. Specific focus areas include: the reciprocal relationships between population and the environment, impact of natural resource degradation on livelihoods, environmental sanitation, water quality, promotion of renewable energy technologies, environmental conservation, and the documentation and promotion of traditional knowledge on biodiversity. Natural disaster management and preparedness, early warning systems, emergency relief and awareness, and local community capacity building training are additional priorities.
