A key step in building the foundation of a premier research, policy and program institute is building the conceptual and technical capacity of individuals. With support from different organizations, ISER-N has been able to train ISER-N members, research staff, affiliated faculty members, and students from collaborating Nepali organizations on social science research methods, particularly at the Survey Research Center of the University of Michigan, a global leader in survey methodology. The two-fold purpose of these trainings was to ensure the use of the state-of-the-art survey data collection methods in all of ISER-N\'s data collection projects and to prepare participants for developing capacity for higher levels of independent and collaborative research. These trainings mainly focused on research methods that include Survey Methods, Questionnaire Design, Data Analysis, Ethnography, Population Research, Multilevel Modeling, Qualitative Methods, and Data Collection Methods.
Nepali scholars and staff are also trained by visiting researchers here in Chitwan. These trainings particularly focus on research methods and instrument design, sampling, survey and ethnographic interviewing, data collection techniques, and geo-spatial data collection methods using the global positioning system (GPS).
Short-term Training Received by Nepali Scholars in the USA.
